What is a Joncrow? Clearing up the confusion

Joncrow is the name given to a bird found in Jamaica. Similar to a raven or magpie, blackbird or crow. In Jamaica, there used to be a reverend whose name was John Crow. According to some, he would wear long black robes and preach, perched on the pulpit, bent over like a vulture at a carrion feast. Whenever Jamaicans used to see a raven or blackbird in a similar stance hunched over an ill begotten meal, they would exclaim in their Patois tongue "Wat a way dat bird dere fava Joncrow Suh" which basically translates to "Doesn't that bird over there sure look like Reverend John Crow?"

Joncrow Entertainment is a multi faceted animation production facility located in Vancouver, British Columbia. It is currently the only small scale studio in Vancouver that functions as both a production house as well as a training facility. Joncrow is a service, content and R&D provider for the Web, Traditional Broadcast, and Film.

Formed in 1999 by business partners Ron Crown and Adam Sale, Joncrow Entertainment is aligned with many cutting edge animation studios and software companies. These alliances allow for fast ramp up on larger scale projects, as well as helping to provide technical support and creative input to deliver the highest quality product at competitive rates.

Creative Director Ron Crown has honed his directorial skills by spending the last 15 years working with respected clients such as Disney, Atom Films, Shockwave, Bardel Entertainment, Nelvana, Dreamworks, Fox, Nickelodeon and Studio B amongst others. He has been involved in every aspect of a production from pre to post.

Technical Director Adam Sale has worked his way through the Animation Industry over the last 8 years, servicing respected clients such as Fox Animation, Avid Inc., NBA, 3DTutorial.com, Bardel Entertainment, Honkworm International, CAA, Nightfall Productions and Scorched Wood Entertainment. A Certified XSI Instructor, Adam also teaches 3D and Visual Effects at a number of schools in Greater Vancouver.

Both Ron and Adam have instructed at most industry recognized schools in Vancouver. It places the two in close contact with some of the brightest animation prospects in the world. offering additional insight into hand picking the best talent for small, medium and large scale projects.
